If you’re teaching your class using Canvas this Fall, you’re learning how to add content, schedule assignments and tests, send messages, post announcements, and many other tasks that support your teaching. Canvas is new to your students, too. Are you also responsible for teaching them how to use it?
Yes. And no.
Over the Summer, a dedicated team of students created resources (and a plan for sharing them) for students about how to use Canvas. The team also created resources for YOU to show your students on the first day of class. Six slides, available as PowerPoint, images, and PDF give your students the information they need about using Canvas in your class.
- insert these PowerPoint slides into your PowerPoint file
- copy and paste these images into your presentation (click to enlarge)

- show this PDF in class, upload it into your Canvas Syllabus to share with your students
If you need help adding this information to your first-day slides, and if you have any other questions about Canvas, simply contact the CTL Helpdesk at firstname.lastname@example.org and someone from the Canvas Transition Support team will be happy to assist you.
