Are you planning an event (conference, keynote speaker, campus interview, etc) and wondering where to start with respect to accessible and inclusive event planning? UBC has a number of resources to guide this planning. We curated some of these resources in the Accessibility Resources page under Inclusive Practices.
Among others, we recommend that you:
- check out the plethora of information and considerations in UBC’s Event Diversity Toolkit;
- use the Equity and Inclusion Office’s guide for “Accessible and Inclusive Event Planning”, and
- invite visitors to the Okanagan to learn more about the Okanagan Nation prior and during their visit with the Centre for Teaching and Learning’s “Welcome Guide”.
Our webpage includes additional resources focused on Teaching and Learning and general good practices. If you have recommendations for additional resources or would like to discuss some of them in more detail, please contact our Educational Consultant for Inclusion, Electra Eleftheriadou (electra.eleftheriadou@ubc.ca). Good luck with your event!
