Classroom Technology

CTL and IT UBC Okanagan support for instructors converges in the classroom. CTL advises how to plan, design, teach, and use Canvas tools while IT UBC Okanagan looks after all the audio visual equipment and menus in the classroom. Below are resources to get you started at using classrooms to present, run interactive group work, invite remote guest speakers and students, and record the class meetings.

Zoom sessions and recording in the classroom

You can run a Zoom session in your classroom to project a remote guest speaker on the projection screen or to allow a remote student to listen in to your presentation. See our instructions on how you should plan for this.

We recommend you record to Zoom cloud when using the PC lectern but remember to download your recordings from Zoom cloud and upload them to Canvas using Kaltura My Media for longer term use.

To learn how to use classroom menus and presentation setup, attend a workshop, view an instructional video or request an in person tutorial from IT UBC Okanagan.

To get a Zoom account or other hardware support, go to UBC Self service Portal, log in with your CWL credentials and request a service. IT UBC Okanagan for a service will respond by email or meet with you. If on campus, you can go to their physical helpdesk in ADM 024.

If you are in a classroom and need immediate help, use the classroom telephone to call audio visual services at 250.807.9000.
