About Respondus Lockdown Browser
Respondus Lockdown Browser is a web browser you can require students use for Canvas quizzes. This web browser prevents students from copying, printing, accessing other applications, or visiting other websites during an online exam.
Instructors can activate Respondus Lockdown Browser in the Navigation tab of the Settings section of their Canvas course. Quizzes created for use with LockDown Browser cannot be accessed with standard browsers.
Along with best practices for online quizzes generally, there are a number of steps and precautions to take to ensure online quizzes go smoothly using this tool. We also recommend running a low-stakes practice quiz using the Lockdown Browser to ensure all students are able to use it.
