Teaching with Canvas
Canvas can be blended with your in-person classroom activities, or you can deliver your course fully online. Below are some resources to get you familiarized with the tool.
Instructor Resources
Canvas is an online course delivery and learning management system (LMS) you can use to distribute content, arrange online activities, and track student performance. It can be blended with your in-person classroom activities, or you can deliver your course fully online.
Communication
Communicating with students can improve engagement, ease anxiety and improve learning. There are multiple channels and purposes for communicating to the whole class, to groups and to individual students. Some examples are the course contents, announcements, messages, web conferencing, discussions, office hours, and assessment feedback.
Gradebook
The Gradebook stores all information about student progress in the course, measuring both letter grades and course outcomes.
Assignments and Quizzes
You have several options for creating and delivering exams using Canvas’ Assignments and Quizzes features. Both features can be set to become available within a specific timeframe and/or assigned a due date.
