Description
This non-credit credential explores foundational learning theories and effective teaching strategies. This course requires that you critically reflect on your educational experiences and practices and will use those reflections in crafting a teaching philosophy statement.
Learning Outcomes
- Compare and contrast the principles of behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism, with a focus on constructivism. You will critically analyze constructivist learning theory and develop 2-3 practical learning strategies that promote active, student-centered learning, providing real-world examples of how these strategies can be applied in educational settings.
- Reflect on how to integrate the developed learning strategies into your future teaching practices, considering potential benefits and challenges.
- Identify, describe, and analyze factors that contribute to a positive and productive learning environment, drawing from personal experience and supporting evidence.
- Develop a foundational draft of your teaching philosophy that integrates your understanding of learning and outlines strategies for fostering an effective learning environment.
