Zoom video retention policy announced for October 2023

By CTL Team on May 29, 2023

Zoom and Microsoft Teams are tools intended for real-time, synchronous activities, rather than long-term video storage. Using these tools for long-term video storage poses challenges for the university—adding operational inefficiencies, increasing storage costs, and complicating compliance with privacy requirements.

Zoom cloud storage is an issue for UBC Okanagan instructors and staff. Everyone will need a pathway to move their videos either into their own archive or into the new Kaltura cloud. Please contact the Learning Technology support team in the Centre for Teaching and Learning and we will be happy to work with you.
