Teaching Passions and Philosophy

Central to my teaching objective is the concern for student success. When students become adept at using their in-class learning of effective writing and communication skills in interdisciplinary academic and professional settings, they feel confident and motivated to perform well. My teaching philosophy focuses on the following tenets:

  • Teaching is a communal act because we learn from each other to create an effective learning space.
  • Teaching practices should acknowledge differences in learning, of cultures and socio-economic backgrounds that make one unique.
  • Teaching pedagogies must value the act of learning as embedded in social and community networks.”

Ongoing and Future Goals

  • Organize conversations on the use of generative AI for teaching and learning.
  • Utilize my role as a Faculty Advisor on Academic Integrity with the Provost’s Office to highlight ways to use the capabilities of generative AI and maintain academic integrity.
  • Contribute towards mentorship and training on educational leadership.
