Support Analyst / Programmer
My key areas of expertise: Learning Technology Support, Learning Management System Administration, Full Stack Website Development and Management, Agile Methodology.
My role within the team: I am a Support Analyst and Programmer in the Learning Technology team at the CTL. I provide learning technology support through our helpdesk and specialize in supporting Canvas, our Learning Management System, as a user-level administrator. I am also the main developer currently managing the UBC Curriculum MAP project, which is an open-source browser-based tool that supports curriculum mapping, analysis and planning at course and program levels, and provides a Syllabus Generator that follows the policies, guidelines and templates provided by the UBC Okanagan and UBC Vancouver senate.
My background: I received my Bachelor of Arts majoring in Computer Science in 2022 here at UBC’s Okanagan campus and joined the CTL soon after. My educational focus was in website development and I have had the opportunity in this position to take on complex front and back-end development tasks using JavaScript, Node.js, PHP and HTML under the Laravel Framework. Within the Learning Technology Team, I provide support for all UBC supported technologies for staff and instructors and stay up to date on documentation and technical changes. I have specialized in supporting Canvas at UBCO at the user level as an admin, as well as by managing courses and users through the Learning Tools Provisioning Service. In this position I have also had the chance to work with our Educational Consultants and directly with instructors on developing projects that utilize learning technologies within their course to support learning outcomes and enrich learning.
When I’m not working… I am a huge fan of the outdoors and camping, but you will only catch me outside once it’s warm and sunny. I also love reading but I have a habit of picking up a new one before I finish, so I guess I like buying books more!
