Canadian think tank Academica Group offers a daily “Top Ten in Higher Ed” email which covers a range of hot topics in Canadian higher education, including AI. One interesting application of AI was highlighted during the week of December 16th : two Brock University professors used AI Tool NotebookLM to create a podcast with the content of their syllabus. This addressed the problem of students not reading the syllabus and missing out on valuable information. While not perfect (the podcast is a bit long) it is a novel way of presenting information and follows universal design for learning principles. The syllabus was posted in its usual format in the learning management system – the podcast was offered as an option. Check out the article to dig deeper and learn how or go right to the podcast to hear the podcast for yourself.
