Accessibility Tip – June 2024

At the CTL, we are on a journey in making our communications more accessible. We are pulling back the curtain and invite you to join us as we review and implement new practices that enhance accessibility. This month, we are focusing on tables.

Prioritize simple tables over complex tables. Simple tables have a maximum of one row of column headers and/or a maximum of one column of row headers. In contrast, complex tables include more than one row of column headers and/or more than one column of row headers, and may include merged or split cells.

Include a table title or caption

For visual learners, ensure that there is adequate cell padding

Learn more about formatting tables under Best Practice 3 of the OER Accessibility Toolkit and let us know how this practice is working for you.
