At the CTL, we are on a journey in making our communications more accessible. We are pulling back the curtain and invite you to join us as we review and implement new practices that enhance accessibility. This month, we are focusing on colour contrast.

The visual presentation of text and images of text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 (ideally 7:1 or higher) for body text

How can you check? There are many online and downloadable tools that allow you to select or enter colour values and provide you with a “pass” or “fail” result on the contrast ratio of text or graphical objects with their background. We like:
